By Air: Nearest airport is Bagdogra 124 km from Gangtok. Bagdogra has regular flights from Calcutta and Delhi. Sikkim also has daily helicopter service connecting Gangtok and Bagdogra.
By Rail: Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) at a distance of 125 km from Gangtok (approx 4.5 hrs drive). NJP connects with Calcutta, Delhi, Guwahati, Lucknow and other important cities of India.
By Road: Nearest city is Siliguri 114 km from Gangtok (approx 4 hrs drive) Siliguri is well connected to all the major cities in India. Sikkim Nationalized Transport (SNT) buses plies regularly from Gangtok to Siliguri, Darjeeling, Kalimpong etc.
Local Taxi Service: The taxi system in Gangtok is extremely organized. For local transport there are set routes and designated stops for taxis. The taxis do not have meter system but the fares are fixed and only four pax are allowed at a time. There are a couple of taxi stands in Gangtok, above MG Marg, Lall Bazaar, Ranka Stand, Deorali etc.
